Oh, well this is slightly disappointing. Coronation Street’s warring ex-couple Sally and Kevin Webster will remain apart for the foreseeable future, producer Phil Collinson has confirmed.

In December 2010, Sally discovered that Kevin was the father of Molly Dobbs’ baby. Molly died in the tram crash. Sally has since started divorce proceedings and had lots of heated arguments with Kevin.

When asked by a reader of Inside Soap magazine whether it could be possible for Sally and Kevin to follow in the footsteps of the Barlow’s by setting aside their differences and moving on from past troubles, Collinson replied:

“No, I don’t think so. We’d be selling them short if we did that any time soon. Everything that’s happened since Kevin’s affair was exposed has been so monumental – we have to do it justice and show what happens when a marriage collapses. And, in fact, we’re getting a lot of brilliant storyline material. I’m enjoying seeing the Websters apart and at war so much that it’d be a mistake to assume they’ll get back together in the end.”

Collinson also revealed that the arguments will take a new twist later this week when Kevin wins a lot of money on a scratch card.

Oh dear, this could get UGLY!

A few months back, Coronation Street announced that they would be relocating the filming of the soap from central Manchester to the new MediaCityUK development in Trafford Wharf.

Anyway, owners of the bread brand Hovis are opposing these plans for relocation…

Acorrding to the Manchester Evening News, Premier Foods (parent company for Hovis) have submitted a formal objection to Trafford council over the proposal.

The letter mentions that there is already traffic congestion problems around the area, adding: “Should the ITV development come forward and operate at weekends, it is possible that this problem could be exacerbated.”

Concerns over noise are also said to be a problem: “Premier Foods request the certainty that their operations, which can be noisy, will not be compromised by future complaints from ITV to the council in future. Until a noise survey is submitted in this respect, they object to the application.”

Neither ITV or Hovis have made a comment about the newspaper report, so at the moment it’s all just speculation.

According to the Daily Star, Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has decided to go on maternity leave 4 months earlier than the normal time.

Kym announced she was pregnant last October with her partner Jamie Lomas. Sadly, they lost their prematurely born son Archie in February 2009.

She is taking the time off to make sure that she is not under any stress that could cause any problems. Understandable!

She says:

“My New Year’s resolution is to take more care of myself. I always put other people first and end up feeling knackered, so I’m going to pamper myself. My mum has told me off for taking on too much, so I’m going to learn to say no a lot more in 2011.”

Good for her! I think it is the right thing to do!

A Coronation Street insider added:

“You can’t blame Kym for being worried after what happened to Archie. She wasn’t heavily involved in the 50th anniversary tram crash because that could have been added stress she didn’t need. And she felt the best thing was to start her maternity leave well ahead of the birth.”

Have The Wanted’s Max George and Corrie’s Michelle Keegan split up?

Or were they even together in the first place?

Despite all of the rumours flying around about the pair being an item, Max George appeared on This Morning on Wednesday 22nd December with his band mates. When asked which band members were spoken for, Siva Kaneswaran was the only member to hold up his hand.

What has happened guys? If anything at all?

Are they an item? Yes or no?

According to the News of the World, Michelle Keegan who plays Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street has been spotted in Manchester’s Radisson Hotel with Max George of The Wanted.

Apprently, she was seen waiting for a taxi with Max following a night out. Once back at the hotel, they stood talking at the lift for around 15 minutes. An onlooker said:

“They were giggling and she touched his coat a lot and gently pushed him across the floor with her hands on his back. It was like they were trying to make up their minds up over something. I kept expecting her to give him a kiss and go home but all of a sudden they had a quick look at who was about, hit the call button and jumped in the lift.”

A friend of Michelle’s has said that they didn’t spend the night together, and are just good friends that are comfortable in each others company… Hmmm – they are so getting it on!

This would also explain why Michelle attended Key 103′s Jingle Ball 2010 last Wednesday. She’s going to make A LOT of girls very angry. Ha!

Max has confirmed to The Sun that they ARE both seeing each other!

“It’s early days. But yes, we are seeing each other. She’s just beautiful. She’s a funny girl – and I love her accent too.”

He adds that they met after Keegan saw him play a show in Manchester with the rest of his bandmates.

Apparently, their friends are dubbing them…. Wait for it…. ‘Maxchelle’…. Priceless!

Here is your first look at the Coronation Street 50th anniversary tram crash episode!

Coronation Street is my favourite soap, and it looks like this episode will not dissapoint…

From the look of things, Mollie will definitely die – along with baby Jack.

So who watched Coronation Street last night? It was an extremely touching episode as street legend Jack Duckworth sadly passed away.

There were lots of tears, but also lots of smiles as his wife Vera (who died on the show a few years ago) made an appearance as a ghost.

When I heard that they were bringing Vera back as a ghost my initial thought was “oh God… how are they going to do this?”, but the episode was beautifully directed and produced and everyone deserves a big pat on the back.

My only criticism is that I personally feel as though the episode should have ended whilst Jack and Vera were dancing to Frank Sinatra rather than revealing the death to Tyrone, Mollie and Connie… I think they could have left that for the beginning of the next episode. But apart from that, great job!

I don’t actually watch the show – but sadly, Tina O’Brien (former Coronation Street star) will not be performing on this Saturday’s show due to chicken pox.

Her and her dance partner Jared Murillo are allowed a week off from the competition until she recovers. They were supposed to dance the rumba this week, and Murillo actually brought over seven family members from his home in Utah (USA)… Yes, he is American.

Strictly Come Dancing rules state that contestants are allowed 1 week where they can be given a bye due to illness or injury. So that means if Tina is still unable to compete next Saturday, then she will be forced to leave the competition.

Whilst lunching in Wagamama’s (The Printworks, Manchester) I spotted Keith Duffy from Boyzone/Coronation Street.

Unfortunately, I only managed to get this crap picture. Yes I realise you could probably argue as to whether it actually was him – but it was!

I walked past after and it was 100% him. Didn’t want to disturb him as he was eating with friends.

Keith – if you read this, do you mind if fans come up to you and ask for a picture? Just for future reference!

So I’ve just got back from holiday and I’m catching up with my soaps that I missed (sad, I know)…

I was shocked to discover that Coronation Street has got a new opening sequence and theme tune.

It’s awful!

I want the old style back – that’s what Corrie is about… It does not need to be modernised!
