If you are under the age of 22 and male that is!

I was listening to an interesting story on Radio 1′s Newsbeat regarding car insurance prices and was shocked to hear that some guy (aged under 22) was quoted up to £6000 on one price comparison website!!

The AA has described the rise in cost as a new record. Young male drivers are paying the most, with the average of the three cheapest quotes they get being £2,457. This is nearly double the premiums offered to young women.

The insurance costs are being blamed on another surge in claims for injuries sustained in accidents.

Simon Douglas (Director of Insurance at the AA) says:

“If you have an accident which leaves someone disabled, the claim can be up to £15m. Young men are twice as likely to be involved in these incidents than young women.”

I can understand why, but I think its me thinking of the stereotype of ‘boy racer’. I see them all of the time and they really do not care for other drivers. I’m 22 but I consider myself a good, sensible driver. I do not care if my car goes faster than the person next to me, what size the exhaust is, or if I have a spoiler… But people like me are being punished for the idiots that do care about those kind of things.

I was quite lucky this year with my car insurance… With my no claims discount it actually cost me under £700, and even my advisor at Admiral was shocked at how little I had to pay as he noticed there was a rise – despite peoples no claims bonuses.

One thing that I will say though… There are millions of uninsured drivers on the road – but are you surprised?!

What do you think of this? Would you say that insurance companies are right to charge through the roof to a MALE driver over a FEMALE driver? Or does it look quite sexist?

After watching The Gadget Show on Channel 5 on bank holiday Monday – they revealed that they have an internet speed tester on their website.

Broadband providers are notorious for advertising speeds faster than they can actually provide their customers so what gives?!

I just completed the speed test. You can do so by clicking here. My results are absolutely shocking. I went on other speed test sites to actually see if the results were accurate and they are.

My flatmate and I are paying for 8mpbs broadband (its the cheapest package by PlusNet), but we are actually getting download and upload speeds LESS than 1mbps. Completely ridiculous! We were contemplating upgrading, but I don’t think it would make too much difference. I refuse to give a company more money when they can’t even deliver basic speeds.

I have sent them the statistics via Twitter, but no doubt I will get a generic response saying that all is fine at their end…. Yeah – sure it is!

One thing I have learnt over the past few months…. Telephone and internet providers are completely rubbish – I’m looking at you, BT & PlusNet!!!

Usually I wouldn’t write about indie/rock bands, but if there is one thing I do not like… It’s cheating!!

Elliot Minor are allowing fans to vote for different support acts at different towns and cities around the UK… Well for the Newcastle entry, a little birdie has told me that a band called Alone Tonight have been cheating – not cool!

I went to Starbucks today with a couple of my friends and really was not impressed.

Went a few days ago too and had the same problem, but obviously I just thought it was a one off.

They really do not care about the quality of their drinks! Fair enough I like my coffee hot, but I don’t like it boiling. It ruins it! Having worked at Costa Coffee, I know the correct temperature to heat the milk to and Starbucks just take it over board and burn the milk all of the time.

Anyway, I took my drink back and had exactly the same problem – even when we told them it was burnt… But whatever, next time I’m going Costa! Starbucks have lost a customer…

You may be the most popular coffee outlet in the world, but it doesn’t mean you are the best!

I know this is completely unrelated to celebrities, but I don’t care.

I took a really cool photo with an iPhone app called Pano from my friends office windows. The office is opposite The Printworks, Manchester.
